| Resumen: | Antibiotics are therapeutic tools in the control of infectious disease in humans and domestic animals, so they must be considered under the one health concept. The responsible use of them is essential for animal welfare and food safety, being relevant to quantify their use through indicators. The objective of this research is to determine indicators of antibiotic use of mastitis in dairy cows in Uruguay. The use of antibiotics is related to the total number of cows in the milking herd. The larger the milking herd, the higher is the use of antibiotics. However, if we consider the yearly production average, we found that the higher usage was related, but only in the case of intramammary usage of antibiotics. |
